Under the new initiative of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences – Yoga Programme for Students, a 10-Day Yoga Camp was conducted in connection with International Day of Yoga 2026 at Sharavathi Dental College in association with Siddapur Institute of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, affiliated to RGUHS, along with Dishabodh Foundation. The programme aims to promote awareness regarding yoga and its benefits among the public and students through various activities.
In this regard, a 10-day Yoga Camp was conducted at our institution from 12th June 2026 to 21st June 2026. Yoga trainers were deputed by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, from Siddapur Institute of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences (SMINYS), Siddapur. Nominated students were Dr. Nikhitha M. V., Ms. Harshitha, and Ms. Swathi C. The yoga trainers facilitated the successful implementation of the yoga camp activities at our institution and the International Day of Yoga Celebrations. Every day, from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM, trainers conducted yoga activities in our institution.
With regard to Order No. NDC/UGPG-DEB/DC/2026/DEB-22 dated 11/06/2026 and Ref. No. RGU/10D-YC/IDY-2026/01/2026-27 dated 29/05/2026, the International Day of Yoga was celebrated on 21st June 2026 in our college. The programme began with the blessings of God at 8:00 AM, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Tejonidhi, who highlighted the significance of yoga in daily life. This was followed by a speech on yoga and meditation by Dr. Sanjana, who explained the origin of yoga in India and its importance in enhancing physical fitness, mental health, stress management, and overall well-being.
After the speech, our yoga instructors Dr. Nikhitha M. V., Ms. Harshitha, and Ms. Swathi C. G. guided the participants through various yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), and meditation techniques. The participants performed different yoga practices such as Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana, and Surya Namaskar. Dr. Nikhitha M. V. explained the benefits of each posture, while Ms. Harshitha and Ms. Swathi C. G. demonstrated the practices and encouraged everyone to practice yoga regularly for a healthy lifestyle.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Tejonidhi. The celebration was successful in promoting awareness about the benefits of yoga and inspired participants to incorporate yoga into their daily routines. Everyone appreciated the initiative and expressed their commitment to maintaining good health through regular yoga practice.
