Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics

Well-equipped department spread to the area of 5418 sq. feet consisting of undergraduate clinic, post graduate clinic, seminar room, laboratory, professor cabin, Associate professor Cabin, Lecturers room, Post graduate room.

The subject introduced in the third year and the student appears for the final examination in the final year. Lectures are taken as per the time table laid down by RHUHS. Apart from lectures, seminars are taken weekly and journal club is organized fortnightly. Interactive sessions, groups discussions and question bank solving is done for each batch of students. Practice viva-vocals and relevant diagram drawing projects are integral part of the course. Journals are written by the students covering all the chapters of the subject and have weightage in terms of marks during the final examination.

The student starts working on the patients from third year and has postings of two weeks duration per term. Each student is expected to complete a minimum quota as per the RGUHS rules and regulations. A clinical work record is maintained by them for the same. Introductory demonstrations on the patients are given to the students and basic as well as newer techniques of various treatment modalities are taught to them.

The department has more than 28 dental chairs, high quality lab equipments, a reading area with department library and a seminar/discussion room. Students are trained in all kinds of removable and fixed orthodontic appliances.

Growth modification procedures, surgical orthodontics, fixed mechanotheraupy, lingual orthodontics, invisible orthodontics, are some of the treatment facilities available in the department for patients coming to the department.
