Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

The department of Conservative dentistry and Endodontics deals with prevention and treatment of the diseases and injuries of the hard tissues and the pulp of the tooth and associated periapical lesions. Operative dentistry is the art & science of diagnosis, treatment & prognosis of defects of teeth which do not require full coverage restorations for correction; such treatment should result in the restoration of proper tooth form, functions and esthetics while maintaining the physiologic integrity of the teeth in harmonious relationship with the adjacent hard and soft tissues; all of which enhance the general health and welfare of the patient. The ultimate goal of Conservative dentistry is to preserve natural dentition or to restore it to the best state of health, function and esthetics. Endodontics is the branch which deals with the etiology, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of diseases of pulp & periapical tissues compatible with good health.

The primary goal of this department encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sequelae of dental caries and the other defects of natural teeth; techniques and procedures to restore the teeth to full function and appearance in an aesthetically pleasing manner with as little loss of the healthy tooth structure as possible. The  department specialises in the restoration of diseased teeth with the help of the latest restorative materials and Endodontics.

The department constantly updates itself with equipments and materials to render latest treatment effectively in a short time.

The specialty being a confluence of basic sciences and clinical dentistry, it shoulders the responsibility of academic care from BDS , MDS . The department also has a full fledged, pre clinical laboratory equipped with the latest technology and phantom heads, where preclinical students can have a “feel” of treatment procedures before they are carried out in patients.

The department has its own library to help the students update their knowledge apart from the college central library.

The faculty members show utmost concern and care in sharing their knowledge and experience with the students. They strive constantly for academic progress by the way of conferences, CDE program, seminars and workshop and try to translate these activities into research
